  2. Claire says:

I had to laugh at the irony of the fact the pills are being shipped from Florida…

  3. Katie says:

    This is very wrong.

  4. Rad says:

  5. Aoife says:

The guy looks about 20 years older in the “after” photo. Not sure that was the result he was going for …

I’ve heard of these as being in development in the 1990s. They stimulate your natural production of melanin and are a safer tan that exposing yourself to UV rays, but of course would not present any tan lines. But this suggests you still need sun exposure.

As someone who doesn’t tan (freckle and burn), I’ve been curious to see if the testing had produced a marketable product yet… but I’m not going to respond to this ad.

I don’t know about tanning pills, but supposedly MelanoTan injections are effective… if you don’t mind dark spots, new moles and freckles forming, nausea, flushing, and all the other stuff that comes with taking hormones.

Go look up two sites. One’s called The Beauty Brains. The other is called Pale Is The New Tan.

You will be glad you don’t tan after you see the 2nd one.

Great. Now I want to go watch Soul Man.

It looks like the photos are taken 5 minutes apart. He is wearing the same shirt and aside from a slight disruption to his fringe his hair is identical in each photograph. It is just makeup.

  9. G says:

Funny how his hair/mustache got darker, too…

He looks like one of the chimney sweeps from “Mary Poppins.”

  10. Hadanorangedad says:

My dad used these in the 80s. They were super doses of carotene I think. They turned him orange. He had really blue eyes. Would have been great if he were a Broncos fan…

  11. csm says:

No, simply because i don’t like being harassed by cops.

I’d like to see the list of possible side effects for these. People are obsessed with being tan, it’s nutty!

  13. Yaoifangirl13 says:

    I don’t think thats healthy…

  14. geekgirl says:

LOL, “with as little as 20 minutes of sun exposure per day”
These days, on a clear summer day around here without sunscreen, in two weeks they’d have that tan anyway. Oh, how I miss our ozone layer.

  15. Goad says:

it’s a reverse Micheal Jackson pill,If only we could have given it to him before he eat those other 80 pills!!!!

  16. Julay says:

I’m pretty sure the twenty minutes of sun screen do it.
    ;l

  17. DizzyEmili says:

This one really made me laugh. “These tablets contain the natural ingredients your skin cells need to produce a tan” That’s called the SUN, you dumbasses.

  18. margaret (australia) says:

I took them – about 1981 – turned me orange – especially around the nose and mouth and my hands
I went to see my best friend and her brother burst out laughing and could not stop laughing.
    Pills went in the bin.
Mum tried to talk me out of them at the time – I did not listen – tablets were probably so toxic

  19. whatsaysyou says:

I don’t know why people are so obsessed with getting a tan. Looking like George Hamilton is so not cool at all.
