Fashion Fail - 1970s Patchwork Win

Submitted by: dunno source via Submission Page

Ah, remember the seventies? The glorious, Ritz cracker–filled, pre-orthodontic, coordinating outfits made entirely out of patchwork seventies?

Yeah, me neither.

Incorrect source or offensive?

Ha ha ha, he’s wearing PJs, right?

    • ThatDarnCat says:

No, those are actually clothes. You could buy outfits like that are Sears and J.C. Penny, and Woolworth. Now I’m going to have recuring nightmares from my childhood.

  2. Katie says:

    I has a scared 0.0

  3. imillard says:

    Oh, I remember the 70′s.
But I never remember them looking like THAT!
This must be the source of, “Hey kid. Your mother dresses you funny.”

    • maglindracia says:

I remember looking like that. And my mother did dress me funny. In 1976, for the bicentennial, my mother sewed me polyester clothes in the shades of red, white, and blue. Its all i had to wear that year. four shirts and three pairs of pants. I couldn’t even hope they would wear out, as polyester has a half life of about 50 years.

  4. jamisings says:

Kid’s clothing fits correctly. His pants are not on the ground. His adult teeth are probably not all in yet so the dentist isn’t going to do any major work on them. And the patchwork outfit is kind of cute.

Frankly, I think this is full of win and calling him poorly dressed means you have no taste.

  5. mags says:

    Aren’t those pajamas?

  6. Ras says:

Well it’d be funnier if the ‘patches’ weren’t printed on a set of fleece pajamas. XD

  7. pix says:

I think this chap is probably still living with his mum.

  8. Exit Academy says:

I think that’s a “Nilla Wafer” he’s nomin…..’course, I’ve problems that I noticed that…or my mind just refused to look at that garish outfit.

  9. Will says:

    Austin Powers, is that you?

  10. Jill says:

i think my mom had that exact same pattern – but as a leisure suit

  11. Penguin says:

    NERD!

  12. carnifex says:

    damn,i keep thinking pyjamas too.

    • maglindracia says:

N o I think it is a kid’s version of a leisure suit. patches were really really popular in the seventies.

  13. hmph says:

btw… what is he doing out side in the park in his jammies?? Seems a happy kid… he probably grew up to have braces, and lasik and a multi-million dollar a minute computer geek job. Last laff is on us.

  14. TCinNC says:

I’m pretty sure my little brother had this suit.

  15. Alex says:

I honestly don’t see anything wrong with how that kid is dressed…

  16. Exit Academy says:

When this was the norm (http://www.foreignmego.com/plaid/lills.jpg) then no…those aren’t PJs he’s wearing.
*trust, I DO remember outfits like this…”luckily” for me my parents were “wannabie hippies”, so I was stuck with shoulder length hair, and very colourful (*read: GARISH COLOURS) dashikies…mind you, I was a VERY pale, VERY blonde young WHITE BOY. Sort of explains my shaved head and penchant for dark coloured clothing now.

  17. Damn, he reminds me of myself at that age. How unfortunate.

  18. Princeofcups says:

No, those are not pajamas. That was the height of fashion for a couple of years during the 70s. I still have nightmares. At least it’s not tan. The seas of tan!

  19. challahbread says:

    I think he’s cute.

  20. candyluna says:

this is very cute though!! not like the rest of the pics here.

  21. tim supple says:

the cloth that you are calling flannel to identify them as pajamas is incorrect the cloth is chamios (not sure on spelling). and they are definitly clothes not pj’s. memories are rough on teenagers of the seventies.
