Perhaps he just wandered into the frame and isn’t part of the gang, but if not, the guy in the baseball cap really needs to up his game. Maybe the other guys used up all the hairspray before he could get to it?

Copy & paste this:

a Japanese Elvis/Grease gathering. Fliggin’ Hiralious. when the picture was taken, did the camera go “crick”?
This is probably from the set of “nothing to worry about” (music video) by Peter Bjorn and John. Same main dude with the ridiculous hair, same gang jacket.
theyre a real gang in harajuku, tokyo
THEY WERENT ACTORS FOR THE MUSIC VIDEO, they just filmed them
Yep.. Japanese are in fads behind us I think they just hit the 80′s or 90′s.. Greaser Gangs are popular over there. Wangster gangs are starting to catch on too..
I think I just pissed a little bit….ROR
Yeah, that’s not punk, it’s “Greaser”. Much older fad, and part of where the title of the movie comes from. ‘course, the one guy there takes it to Johnny Bravo levels…
Its not Greaser. the hair would just be straight back. This is rockabilly
This is quite possibly the coolest thing I’ve ever seen in my life.
….I’m pretty sure this is from the music video for “nothing to worry about” by Peter Bjorn and John.
Ahaha, extreme retro Japanese yankees! The guy in the middle is seriously defying gravity with that hair.
I freakin love them!!! They are in/main part of the music video for Peter Bjorn and John “nothing to worry about.” It makes me laugh every time i see the video.
It was for a music video:
Jet Generation!
So they’re dressed sort of like a greaser bike gang… but how on earth do you get a helmet on over that hair? Or maybe with enough hairspray the helmet becomes unnecessary?
It’s not real life, it’s from a music video: Peter Bjorn & John’s “Nothing to Worry About.”
Oh no, that’s definitely real life–it might be in the PBJ music video, but it’s not something someone came up with specifically for their vid. This is a lifestyle for these guys. I think they’re awesome. <3
pretty sure those guys are from some kind of Yakuza drama. The yakuza/yanki in Japan stereotypically dress that way, but I don’t want to believe that these are real Yakuza..
I think this is from a music video, the guy in the hat is the director. It’s been a couple of years now, but I remember seeing these guys on Fuse. For the life of me I can not remember who’s music video it was.
This is actually a screen from a music video. Peter Bjorn and John – Nothing to Worry About.
found it http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GwcaQ3qJ88U
They’re Japanese rockabillies, probably hanging out in Yoyogi Park if this was taken in Tokyo. The Tokyo rockabillies also have a pink Cadillac! It’s awesome! And they dance too!
Lol i saw some guys like this when i visited tokyo – it’s wierd to think that they…uh… actually exist

From the music video “Nothing to worry about” by Peter, Bjorn and John…
This must be the funeral of an Elvis impersonator.
I knew I’d seen this somewhere…check it, yo!
Didn’t these guys appear in Jackass?
Its actually from a music video.
Its from a Peter, Bjorn and John music video.
This music video will sort of make things clear. Sort of.
You can see these guys in action in Peter Bjorn and John’s music video. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GwcaQ3qJ88U Japanese rockabilly at its finest.
I can’t decide if this is a real bousouzoku or if it’s simply from a Kudo Kankurou drama.
I think these guys are from the music video for “nothing to worry about” by Peter Bjorn and John.
Not to sure how a punk of greasers qualifies as a punk rock BBQ…
*group of greasers lol
Ah-so
They’re called yanki from what I understand…and they’re part of a gang. Look them up.
Kinda reminds me of that guy from that anime Shaman King.. think he was a biker too.. can’t really remember.
no this is a screenshot from the music video “nothing to worry about”
its not real.
Well technically Shaman King isn’t real either.
Can’t help but wonder if these guys are part of the local yakuza… Baseball cap is probably not one of them…
Leningrad Cowboys, Finland.
I KNEW that one guy’s hair reminded me of something else. Those guys (Leningrad Cowboys) are a hoot!
why isn’t my last comment showing up here? this picture is from a music video filmed in Japan….
this picture is from a music video nothing to worry about
They’re a rockabilly dance group.
Well… let’s see… They are Japanese greasers. This has nothing to do with the punk style or the Yakuza; I see no plaid, and the Yakuza are generally business people. (think business suit with full sleeve tattoos that mean something and sunglasses.)
Plus most of the Japanese people that I know do perfectly fine in pronunciation. For all the little white kids that think that all Asian people use r sounds in place of l sounds; it would help if you were to get of the internet and deal with real people from time to time; it’s also more likely to get you a tan, maybe even laid.
Overall another fail from the ones running this site though. Maybe they should get out some too. At least they could review their site policies to not have it such a haven for the Junior Closet Clown Devision of the KKK.
In other words, no one is supposed to poke fun at anyone else, regardless of whether it actually is a stereotype for a reason? Rearry?
Oh, and “division.”
Win.
In my experience, it’s the Chinese rather than Japanese who have trouble with “r”s and ”l”s… Though not the Cantonese speakers. Is that racially sensitive enough for you?
Thais have that problem as well.
At least my friends little old Thailand-born mother does.
These guys may be in a Bosozoku gang (aka the rather poetic sounding “Speed Tribe”). I thought those groups were a dead issue as of a few years ago–perhaps that explains the receding hairlines.
The rebellion shown here is part “natsukashii” (nostalgia). These rockabilly gang might have had more serious intentions and actions in earlier times, but have settled into jobs now.
Bosozoku (“violent running tribe”) are generally younger (who the #&*% is Elvis?), more colourful, more overtly nationalistic and more dangerous. And they favour perms over pompadours.
the proper term for this style is called Rockabilly. Japanese pin-up/greaser style. the girls from this style are pretty awesome too.
no not Yakuza, just older men who never grew out of their love for elvis ^^.
well, who ever then are, and whatever name you want to give to their style, This picture is from a peter bjorn and john video for the song nothing to worry about. awesome video though.
this is pretty awesome
that one guy’s over the top pompador is absolutely AMAZING!!!! that adds another 2 feet of height to him
This is from a music video-
Peter, Bjorn, and John – Nothing To Worry About
This picture is taken from a music video from Peter Bjorn and John. The song is called Nothing to Worry About from the album Living Things. Its a good song.
”Leningrad Cowboys go Japan” – a remake of the classic ”Leningrad Cowboys go America” ( 1989, IMDB .com /title/tt0097728/ )
That’s actually a brain tumor on his head, caused by his radioactive hairspray.
I think this is from Peter Bjorn and John. Really… If you don’t believe me ask the other 150 people that have said so.
they are real people they wer just featured in the video! its not a new concept!
Now this is pure style! I love these guys!
That is one wild comb-over!
Niaeru is right. The street in front of Yoyogi Koen used to be closed off on Sundays and amateur bands would set up both sides of it and perform. These guys would place a boombox in the road and jitterbug like crazy to Bill Haley etc. They have been doing it since at least the mid-eighties and still hang out there now. The hairlines have receded a bit over the years (especially on the monster quiff guy) but they still hang out there. The baseball-cap dude is probably one of the homeless that sleep in the park.
oh yeah, and if you look at the Peter Bjorn and John video, you can see they now do it in the entrance to the park, not the road
COULD SOMEBODY *PLEASE* TELL ME WHO THESE PEOPLE ARE?????!!!???
These are most likely the greasers that gather in Yoyogi park. They’ve been coming there for years, they play music and swing dance too. They’re amazing!!
This is not *punk rock*. It’s rockabilly. The japanese rockabillies are well known for going “all out”.
Cool. It’s like all my favourite animes came to life.
“YUSUKE URAMESHI: 20 years later…”
Ha ha, party boy got these guy’s (if you can call em that) all pissed off when he showd up in a thong. lol
It’s neat they way they’ve combined the samurai “M” hairline with the pompadour.
These are most likely the greasers that gather in Yoyogi park. They’ve been coming there for years, they play music and swing dance too. They’re amazing!!
That man has hair to rival Daryan Crescend’s.
…I thought they only did this in anime. Shit.
I know! I used to hang out at Yoyogi Park on Sundays when I lived in Japan. It was so fun to watch them. BTW, where is your user name from, if you don’t mind? It reminds me of Digimon, but then I’m just a huge dork. . . . .
Ahh, oldschool Japanese juvinile delinquents.
Yeah, when I visited my brother in Tokyo, he made sure we went to Yoyogi park to check out the rockabilly guys, but they weren’t there that day. He assures me they’re still regulars.
I was living in Osaka at the time, and I can assure people that some Japanese people really do go all-out for their costumes/hobbies. I live in Okinawa now, and I don’t see the costumes as much here. But they do exist in other parts of Japan, and they may be featured in a music video… but that doesn’t mean they’re from a music video.
Meiji-dori bridge, Harajuku. I f’ing loved visiting that place! But yeah, those Elvis impersonating gangs are usually there every sunday.
There is not a Punk Rock foo, there is a Rock’n'Roll-Jhonny-s**t…
hes looks like a Japaneese Johnny broavo!
Honestly, does no-one read the other comments. Everyone keeps saying “i’m pretty sure thats a still from that music video” Well duh 50 people said it before you!
These guys look extremely cool.
…..I’m pretty sure that’s from a music video.
these are real guys, not just for a music video.
they hang out a park in Tokyo and play Elvis and other rockabilly from a boom box.
I’ve seen them.
They’re real, but not Yakuza. They’re the famous Japanese Greasers that performer in Yoyogi Park in Japan.
I live near Tokyo, and we call these guys the dancing elvises. They do this often enough that they have to duct tape their shows. They are just down the way from where the teens dressed up on Sunday hang out in Harajuku. They actually aren’t very talented, but since they break the mold they stand out in Japan.
*shoes
… Tunnel Snakes rule!
Hey Lily, remember that time you kicked Korean Elvis in the nards?
this dancing takes place in Yoyogi park next to Harajaku every Sunday in Tokyo. Great way to spend the day watching the kids in their outfits dancing and trying different attitudes.
It’s Wooden Stick Ryu and his cosmic pompadour!!!
awesomest. thing. ever.
If you watch the video you can at least see that two or three of them have tattoos.
They may appear in a music video but they are 100% real. They are from a place called harajuku in Tokyo. You can see them just hanging around and dancing and stuff all the time. They are rockabillies.
those freaks were shown in the movie hype. it was during the part of the young fresh fellows woorld tour
Harajuku. These guys are there every time I go.
can you say casting call…babylon 5?
OMG I’ve seen these guys in Harajuku! :O
They really aren’t that poorly dressed, but you should see the girls in the poofy skirts that follow them around…
Sudden gust of wind
A pompadour upended
The perfect photo
It’s a haiku.
HA!The barber/tattoo shop I go to has that dudes picture up and autographed in Tempe Arizona
Its the tokyo rockabilly club.
Yeah this is probably at Yoyogi Park. They’ve been doing this FOREVER.
Geez I feel like I’m looking at every japenese punk/yakuza stereotype in their book
In Japan men wear bump its, even if it is’nt Halloween…LOL
Leningrad Comboys!
