Both right: Depends of the style of transliteration from Japanese; Damashi is from one method, Damacy is from another, though both are pronounced the same.
Though the game was called Damacy; I’m more akin to go with that as far as the game’s concerned.

I think they were trying to spell it using Japanese syllables. There isn’t a “see” sound, but there is a “shi.”

Actually both “Katamari Damashi” and “Katamary Damacy” are correct. The game’s name is pronounced “Katamari Damashi” in Japan where it was first released, and renamed to “Katamary Damacy” for its U.S. release.

What the hell is Katamari Damashi. I think I’m gonna look it up, it looks familiar.
On the one hand, this isn’t really a Poorly Dressed thing because… Great King of All Cosmos.
On the other hand, while I appreciate the work that went into his headpiece… From the neck down he’s recognizable but still poorly dressed. He may have an area to rival David Bowie, but he’s also wearing a shirt. And most definitely NOT wearing half a stuffed poodle.

The folks at ICHC don’t necessarily know about all of the games/shows/etc that are out there, they just see a silly albeit relevant costume for people who are hopelessly addicted to Katamari and figure it is a questionable style moment. While it is a win, the folks over at Epicute did not know who Gir was when the first Gir/Zim cakes/bentos began showing up. It’s up to the readers to share the wealth of gaming and show knowledge.
