    I like the knit-it-yourself KKK hood :-/

  2. Miguel says:

The bottom left one looks like a cross between the Tinman and a Klansmen. Either way, I think I just soiled myself…

  3. tyberius says:

I think this picture just shut down my brain for a while.

  4. lanuel says:

It’s the Freddy Kruger winter collection!

  5. christellar says:

I almost think this belongs on UNRELATED lol, like, WTF? As a Canadian though: I bet those are pretty warm TOUQUES! :D

  6. KD says:

    This is truly frightening.

  7. magdaleena says:

It’s so cold here in Finland now that those could be needed D:

  8. Jo says:

This isn’t a catalog, it’s a knitting pattern. You can tell by the black text at the top of the image. The language refers to knitting techniques, and I’m sorry to say that the designer, Meg Swansen, is a fairly well known knitter.
    Yikes.

  9. Gen. Lee says:

My eyes have seen the glory of the trampling at the zoo…

  10. jamisings says:

The white one makes me want to make a joke about Klan skiers, but really, there’s nothing funny about the KKK.

    • DZ says:

Oh, sure there is. Keep in mind the mental capacity of most of these people.

When I lived in Alabama in the 1980′s, the local Klan, as part of an initiation, told a potential new member to stand, alone and in full Klan regalia, on a corner in a black neighborhood for an hour. I guess that they thought that the majesty and fearsome reputation of the Klan would be all that would be needed to protect the guy.

Of course he was on his way to the emergency room within a few minutes.

      That was hilarious.

  11. Canaduck says:

    Regretsy.

  12. Aegis says:

I do like the tall one with the bowler hat knitted into his.

  13. kitsu-san says:

    GAGA family reunion?

  14. Aaron says:

The family that robs banks together stays together.

  15. episode81 says:

The original blog that posted this scanned image is here – http://anywhoidigress.com/2010/08/04/knitmare/.
You can download the knitting pattern if you need one of your very own :-)

  16. amanda says:

Apparently you can bake a hell of an apple pie while wearing one!

    • Dominic says:

I’m not sure there’s apple in that pie…drifters, hitchikers, someone who accidentally ended up in their backyard by mistake sure but apples, no.

  17. Alice says:

    Slipknot alternative masks.
you know, when it gets cold on stage

  18. siriusdelirious says:

    designer bankrobber gear

  19. zombiehampster says:

frightening- until I saw the kid pokin’ the pie!!! lmao!!!!

  20. yazner says:

    Magnets how do they work??

  21. Uncle Fester says:

These look like they came from a “Knit Your Own Bondage Gear” kit.

  22. Andy says:

The Gimp is in that pie. Mmmmmmmmmmmmmmm Tasty Gimp.

  23. Rufus says:

    That’s just scary.

  24. bruin&speedwell says:

my cat just jumped on my lap, took one look at that pic, flooffed up and ran away!! (proof of their superior intelligence….)

  25. Jeremy says:

I don’t know why, but does the dad look like Chevy Chase to anyone else?

  26. Kit10 says:

    hey, I know that guy!

  27. geogypsy says:

    But winter IS hell.

  28. Lagomorphia says:

You know, this is absolutely terrifying. I mean, it’s an instruction book for making these monstrosities. But then we have’em on people in nice little nerd clothes. Words have now failed me.
    Like the KKK anecdote, though.

  29. murr says:

These make the Slipknot masks look cute.
    I’m scared.

  30. Bert says:

They look like cenobites from Hellraiser

  31. A Random Pooka says:

It’s like the Victor von Doom family Christmas photo. All KKK similarities aside on the one mask, these remind me completely of Doc Doom

  32. Cecelia says:

I rilly like the bowler hat effect on Poppa’s. And, oh, yes, little Poppette’s did make me wonder if there was a wooden cross somewhere out of sight, with a can of lighter fluid ready to go.

I’ve seen a few noses that could use a double-decrease, too.

  33. Sarah says:

Some may think that the kid looks like a KKK member, but this is obviously Candlejack’s family portr-

  34. The Bride says:

    Slipknot, the twilight years.

  35. coyoteman says:

Would these be legal in France?

  36. Stink-Eye McGee says:

Has no one else noticed the white-eyed kid in the gray hat? UM….DEMONIC.

  37. Me says:

I didn’t immediately think KKK actually, it reminded me first of the Tin Man from Wizard of Oz.

  38. wowzers says:

What are those insane words top left?
Anyone know if that’s knitting terminology?
Is this an article teaching us how to make these?
I Do Not want to make these!

  39. BTW says:

    Old image is old.
You guys should check out Regretsy, these masks are a meme there. They even sold dozens to raise money for a sick child. :)

  40. hgfd says:

actually that would be nice because its -30*c here right now.

  41. lareine says:

What really scares me is that this is designed by Meg Swansen (you can see her name on it). I’m a knitter, so I know that not only is Meg a well-known designer, but her mother, Elizabeth Zimmermann, is pretty much the patron saint of knitting and even had her obit in the NY Times (a first for a knitter!). I am shocked and appalled. I don’t think I’ll ever be able to look at any of Meg’s patterns in the same way!

    • Anotherknitter says:

Yes, my first thought was MEG SWANSEN- Meg Swansen designed this?

Puts a whole new perspective on the Zimmerman heritage.

I kind of want to knit these.

  42. WhateverBiatch says:

    ku-klux-klan + slipknot = snow fooling

  43. CannibalDoll says:

    I keep seeing Sqweegel. XD

  44. umm says:

    whats with the kkk cap?

  45. Karsten says:

This was an article from Threads magazine back when they included knitting patterns. As I recall, it got some negative comments in the letter section of the next issue.

  46. alex says:

sorry heath ledger died. no sequel.

  47. Disco Stu says:

    Slipknot, circa 1980

The duet they did with Karen Carpenter that year went to #12 on the pop charts

  48. switchbladeknitter says:

yes the knitter has to comment. I would so make the white one with a longer top so it wouldn’t look so Klan-y. Or the grey one but make the top look more dread lock-y. But the mom’s hat is just not right and the dad’s mask looks like what they give burn patients to wear.

  49. pgrantm says:

If you just moved in somewhere, and this family brought you a ‘Welcome to the Neighborhood’ pie, tell me you wouldn’t move again immediately.

  50. Mrs_Hwang says:

I nearly pissed my pants looking at the regretsy website. Love it!

  51. KK says:

Protip: Stop stealing your posts and website ideas from other websites. You will never be as funny, and everybody sees what you did there. If you don’t have any original ideas, then GTFO.

  52. dee says:

the family who is creepy together stays together… in your nightmares

  53. bllah says:

any1 else see the kid about to poke the pie?

  54. pinz says:

…and this directly in from the KKK catalog; bring your lynchings year round

  55. monado says:

They’re for Hallowe’en in Minnesota! That’s the Tin Man, I think.

  56. Hannah says:

Also excellent for going to swastika burnings with the family.

  57. maouprier says:

The pie looks like it was knitted too xD

  58. HeaLingfacePalM says:

    Lol Delocated.

  59. MakeFunOfEveryone says:

what the f*** is that kid on the left doing to the pie? I can only imagine the photoshoot

Director: “Stick your finger in the pie to look more cute!”
Kid: “The pie is fake though…”
Director: Well just touch it then”

  60. orcrist says:

at least with one of these youll never get to kkkold

  61. Ifixhelos says:

Oh come on guys this is totally that family that was horrifical burned in that fire last year… The masks are for our benefit…

  62. Stephanie says:

Honestly tho, out of all four samples here.. They pick the white one to demonstrate the pointed-top option….. Coincidence? I think not.

  63. Dabubba says:

Take your fetish out on the town this winter with a new line of knit gimp masks.
