No, no, you’re misremembering. Kirk and all those uncool authority types were Herberts. Harshing on the intergalactic hippies right to drop acid and die on toxic planets with all their square “science.”
You can believe, I had a black broad brimmed hat, those were crazy times, but fun. Most of our time was spent in Nevada during the 70′s and people were a little crazy!!!
I built these guitars at my first guitar company, Bunker Guitars of Tacoma around 1976. They were stick type with white Naugahyde wrapped wings. Each one had its own mike attached on the upper horn. The Touch Guitar was before I had invented the electronic mute system, very much like the one I used on the Eddie Arnold show. Tks for asking.
Thanks for that comment- I couldn’t care less about the fashion here, I was just dying to know what those instruments were. Looked Dave Bunker up on YT- he does indeed rock, and it must have been a few years before all the Chapman Stick guys, no?
WOW, it really shows that the past does catch up to you, gads and more, and to think, I did that hair for Jodi and Tami, and it was real. I almost forgot that I made those guitars, maybe I should have forgotten, signed, Abraham
Poorly dressed………….more like pore……..I mean pore, pore because the fellow in the upper left did NOT button the top button on his jacket. But, I bet they still sold a lot of touch guitars. Bob.
Started rebuilding your Bunker Touch Guitar today, nice instrument, just needs some tender loving care, thanks – -bad hair guy, still have most of it but grey
I lived through the ‘hippy’ age, the pic shows a clean cut band that sounded awesome and played most types of music in a fashion that made dancing easy. I wish that you whipper snappers could have seen and heard them. Brenda already said my words except that Dave Bunker still rocks!!!
These were some of my craziest guitars. I built them for Tami and Clyde, no not Bonney and Clyde, close but no banana. They were very light with attached mikes in the early days of Bunker Guitars. I guess the guitars were as crazy as our hair and outfits – - boooooo
Hi Wayne, doing fine, those really were neat guitars, got lot’s of attention of stage. Hope all is well with you. My FB is ddbunker, my YT is david douglas bunker, thanks
Poorly dressed? There is nothing about this picture that isn’t pure WIN. Especially Abraham and Ezekiels hair.
Abraham scares the hell out of me.
I miss the way men used to dress in the 70s, but I don’t miss the facial hair. That’s one 70s fashion trend I wish hadn’t come back.
The 70′s. . . It was all about the hair.
“Abba limited their fame by limiting their style. We’re going to be bigger than Abba.”
It’s the ABBA reunion tour!
How did ABBA do a reunion tour before they’d even started performing?
Time travel?
Magnets
I think those are made out of cardboard ?!?
At the time I’ll bet you this was the height of fashion and good taste.
Hard to believe they looked in a mirror before this was taken and said,”I look GOOD!”
Idk that Amish one looks like a bit of a creeper…
#Steppin’ in to Eden, YEA BROTHER#
(Flashing on an old Star Trek episode)
I swear these were the “Herberts” in that episode.
No, no, you’re misremembering. Kirk and all those uncool authority types were Herberts. Harshing on the intergalactic hippies right to drop acid and die on toxic planets with all their square “science.”
exactly, ABBA before What Not to Wear.
I don’t care what decade it was, why would ANYONE think this looked good?
The upper left dude looks like the guy from “I want to take you to a gay bar”
Funny, that’s exactly what the look on his face says as well.
Indeed.
So, it’s Amish Mormon ABBA featuring the Tammy Wynette-ettes?
Don’t go dissing ABBA!!!!!!! Have you even heard ONE song, like ‘Super Trouper’ from ABBA Gold? HMMMMMM?
On their way to a gig in Branson, Missouri!
more like guitar Goofs…
Is that…(shudder)… Velour?
what’s the name of that awesomish band?
The Starlighter Quartet
But I couldn’t find any more infos. Too bad.
Yo Hezekiah, these guitars are hawt!
For some reason, the upper left fellow is missing his black felt broad-brimmed hat.
You can believe, I had a black broad brimmed hat, those were crazy times, but fun. Most of our time was spent in Nevada during the 70′s and people were a little crazy!!!
How old are those guitars? When did they come out with electric guitars that didn’t need sound bodies? I suspect this may be an ironic retro band.

It’s the killer grip on the girls’ necks that creeps me out. (Well, okay, that’s not the only thing that creeps me out…)
It appears they are preparing to strangle the women, and I think the brunette is aware, the blonde is blissfully ignorant of the fact,
You wouldn’t believe how many times they wanted to strangle me during these years!!!
This is the most awesome 70′s band in the world!!! Dave Bunker rocked!!!!
Thanks for that comment- I couldn’t care less about the fashion here, I was just dying to know what those instruments were. Looked Dave Bunker up on YT- he does indeed rock, and it must have been a few years before all the Chapman Stick guys, no?

Coolest band ever!!!!!!! Plus they had the most AWESOME GUITARS EVER!!!
Poorly dressed………….more like pore……..I mean pore, pore because the fellow in the upper left did NOT button the top button on his jacket. But, I bet they still sold a lot of touch guitars. Bob.

Looks like B-52′s meets C.C.R. Dave, you were ground breaking…. !!!!!!
Thanks Torin, I feel like the B-52
” Stand by your Gland”
Are you embarrassed to know me now????
I lived through the ‘hippy’ age, the pic shows a clean cut band that sounded awesome and played most types of music in a fashion that made dancing easy. I wish that you whipper snappers could have seen and heard them. Brenda already said my words except that Dave Bunker still rocks!!!
You got that right Jeff!
those wigs defy gravity. then again, so does the facial hair on abe lincoln’s grand-nephew.
Maybe that was why they were always so tipsy, they were great people to work with, Tami is still one of my dearest friends today.
I’M 50!! I CAN KICK, I CAN STRETCH, AND I CAN….KICK!!! IIII’MMMM 50!!!
Keep kickin, it’s what keeps us young, I still work everyday and wouldn’t stop if I could. Wish my hair was still that dark brown – - oh well!!!!
It was the style. Who cares about that though. WHAT KIND OF GUITARS ARE THOSE AND WHERE DO I FIND ONE!?!?!?!?!?
These were some of my craziest guitars. I built them for Tami and Clyde, no not Bonney and Clyde, close but no banana. They were very light with attached mikes in the early days of Bunker Guitars. I guess the guitars were as crazy as our hair and outfits – - boooooo
Okay now I have to hear a Dave Bunker song.
Lots of music, talk and song on YT, ddbunker, lots to put up just too busy at Bunker Guitars and life – - love everyone
They could be Amish, go easy on them. They might have a #1 hit on the charts and it might not be a 70′s pic.
Rumspringa, libfraumilch and the Levi Yoder Band were now just bittersweet memories for Rebecca.
WTH is Abraham Lincoln doing there?
dave, those guitars are definitely the bomb.how has life been of lately.hope you are still rocking.
Hi Wayne, doing fine, those really were neat guitars, got lot’s of attention of stage. Hope all is well with you. My FB is ddbunker, my YT is david douglas bunker, thanks
For those of you laughing… 40 years from now, kids will be laughing at today’s “look”…so don’t laugh too hard…
Didn’t we see these guys on an SNL skit?
Go here,
